Behavior Health Technician (BHT)

Job Description

The Behavior Health Technician (BHT) works with children, adolescents, and young adults to assist them in the implementation of their individual treatment plan in order to minimize target behaviors and to increase the use of replacement behaviors as well as transfer the skill to their natural environment.


Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Treatment Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of treatment plan 

    • Provide direct intervention or support in 1:1 settings

    • Implement treatment plan utilizing intensive behavioral interventions

    • Follow prescribed behavior skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols

    • Record data for behavior protocols and graph data for analysis

  • Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when working with clients

  • Assist with behavior assessments as needed by BC

  • Collaborate with team and families

  • Write daily service notes and weekly update notes

    • Maintain paperwork in program book

  • Report directly to the BC or Clinical Director

  • Follow the BACB Ethical and Professional Guidelines

 

Supervision:

  • The BHT is supervised by either the Clinical Director (CD) or the Behavior Consultant (BC)

  • BHTs must receive supervision related to the implementation of treatment plans and interventions with the assigned clients.

  • Must meet state regulation of supervision requirements.
     

Qualifications:
The Behavior Health Technician for Individual Services must meet one of the following:

  • Have a certification as a BCaBA.

  • Have a certification as an RBT.

  • Have a certification as a BCAT.

  • Have a behavior health certification or behavior analysis certification from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute

  • Have a high school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma and have completed a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List as evidenced by a certification that includes the name of the responsible trainer, who is certified as a BCBA or BCaBA.

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in provision of behavioral health services

 

Performance Standards:
The following standards will be used to guide the on-going evaluation of the performance of all staff members:

  • Assures that all products and timelines are specified by J.T. Mummert Consulting LLC.

  • All reports, forms, and worksheets conform to J.T. Mummert Consulting LLC designated formats.

  • All reports, forms, and worksheets are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.

  • Quality of services provided to consumers and their teams, as measured by satisfaction surveys and commentary provided to agency personnel.

  • Being on time and prepared for scheduled appointments and meetings.

  • Responding promptly and appropriately to questions or concerns from team members.

  • Knowledge of the tools used, steps of the functional assessment process, and following steps in order.

  • Professional presentation (dress, confidence, initiative, tactful).

  • Communicating to others well orally and in writing.

  • Adhering to all policies and procedures of J.T. Mummert Consulting LLC.
